Decorative Painting for Furniture with Shutesbury’s Becca Wheeler

Bring a bag lunch, a primed piece of furniture (of reasonable size, please), any favorite colors in acrylic paints, any favorite brushes, and a drop cloth. If you have any visual aids or ideas of what you want to do, bring those too!  Becca will bring her private supply of tools and paints for even more excitement. We will start setting up at 9am, take a break for lunch, and finish up by 4pm. The library will have directions on how to prepare and prime your piece of furniture ahead of time, so we can get right to the fun part. Creative Writing Wednesdays Times Three - for students in grades 4-6

Come exercise your writing muscles, focus your mind’s eye, and explore the universe with your imagination.
Shutesbury writers, Jane Urban & Margaret Simmons, will lead a series of creative writing workshops on three Wednesday afternoons for anyone in grades 4-6.
The workshops, sponsored by the Spear Memorial Library, will be held at the Shutesbury Elementary School. Snacks will be served as the students arrive, and then we’ll get down to work. Notebooks will also be provided, but feel free to bring whatever inspires you.

National act and Shutesbury resident, Tracy Grammar, will be performing with Jim Henry and Guy DeVito. Bake sale to benefit the Shutesbury M. N. Spear Friends of the Library.

Herbal Wreath Making with Candi Tally of Stone House Farm in Amherst

Candi will lead us through the process of creating a beautiful, high quality herbal wreath. Natural items including nuts, seeds and leaves will be used to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind wreaths to decorate your home. All materials and supplies will be provided. Fundamentals of Knitting with Shutesbury's Shetland Trader,
Gudrun Johnston

Come and learn some knitting basics from resident knitwear designer Gudrun Johnston. In this workshop we’ll cover casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, casting off and other useful knitting knowledge to get you started on your first project. Yarn and needles will be supplied for the class but if you have any of your own you can bring them along. Become inspired by looking at her website! Register in advance at or by calling the library.
